OPENING YOUR MIND TO POSSIBILITIES

As a creativity consultant and offering workshops and boot camps on opening your mind to possibilities, I rely heavily on training participants to use images while problem-solving. Let’s find out how good you are already at using images while you think. Listen to the following poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge and picture this:
“What if you slept? And what if in your sleep, you dreamed? And what if in your dream you went to heaven and there you plucked a strange and beautiful flower? And what if you woke up, you had the flower in your hand? Oh, what then?”

Was it easy for you to pick up a flower in your dream? Were you able to see the flower in your hand waking up? If yes, then you are able to use your imagination. You are on the road to creativity. You see, it is said that the mind is like a parachute, in order to be useful, it needs to be open! How open do you keep your mind so that new ideas can come in? Let’s find out:
Now holding the mirror of reality to your face consider this; when someone brings you a suggestion for you to consider, do you get curious and ask yourself:
= what do I like about this suggestion?
= how can I use this idea? or
= do you tear the idea apart to get rid of it because you do not know much about it?
= do you ignore the suggestion perhaps because you are scared of anything new or different coming your way?
= do you turn your back on the idea because it did not come from you?
= do you reject and bury the suggestion because someone else other than you may get the credit?
= do you reject it simply because no one has done it that way before so therefore why rock the boat? Hmmmm?
So, how well do you know yourself? Carry the mirror of reality with you wherever you go and get to know yourself! Opening your mind to possibilities will make you come out as the winner on your road to staying upbeat!
